The Labyrinth Path

Most orchards are planted in straight rows. Ours was designed to tell a story.

Inspired by the legendary Chartres Labyrinth in France, our 425-foot orchard labyrinth was thoughtfully created as both a working apple orchard and an unforgettable destination. Rather than simply growing apples, we wanted to create a place where people could slow down, wander with intention, and reconnect with nature.

The result is one of the most unique cider experiences you'll find anywhere.

A Walk Through the Orchard

Every turn along the path tells part of a much bigger story.

As you make your way through the labyrinth's 11 circuits, you'll journey through the migration of the apple itself, from its ancestral roots in Central Asia to the modern varieties enjoyed across America today.

Along the way you'll discover four distinct collections:

  • Modern American varieties

  • Heirloom American apples

  • Classic European apples

  • Ancient Central Asian ancestors

More than 2,000 trees representing over 50 apple varieties make this living timeline unlike anything else.

The Experience at the Center

As you follow the labyrinth's winding paths, the pace naturally begins to slow. With every turn, you're invited to look a little closer, to the trees, the landscape, and the quiet moments that are so easy to miss in everyday life.

At the center of the labyrinth sits a peaceful pavilion atop the highest point of the orchard. After nearly 1.7 miles of walking, you'll be rewarded with sweeping 360-degree views of the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountains…a place to pause, take a deep breath, and simply be present.

But the labyrinth isn't really about reaching the center. It's about the experience along the way.

It's conversations without distractions, children discovering something new around every corner, the sound of the breeze through the orchard, and the chance to step away from the pace of everyday life.

Whether you're visiting with family, friends, or on your own, every journey through the labyrinth is a little different, and every season offers something new to discover.

The orchard labyrinth is open to all guests whenever Halcyon Days is open. If you're visiting with a group, leading a retreat, or simply looking for a more personal experience, we also offer private labyrinth walks by appointment outside of regular business hours.
